Workplace Heat & Comfort

Take the Edge Off the Heat.

Bring evaporatively cooled, high-volume airflow closer to the people working in hot shops, warehouses and other large, ventilated spaces.

A More Manageable Workspace

Heat changes how a workspace feels.

When temperatures climb, a shop floor, service bay or warehouse can become a difficult place to spend the day.

Workplace heat isn't simply a matter of comfort. Prolonged exposure to excessive heat can contribute to heat stress and heat-related illness, making appropriate workplace heat precautions important.

In suitable conditions, Cool Boss provides another tool for managing hot work areas— moving evaporatively cooled air and high-volume airflow toward the spaces where people are actually working.

Managing Hot Work Areas

Start by making the environment more manageable.

Portable evaporative cooling can complement a broader workplace heat-management approach by addressing several practical challenges in hot, open and ventilated spaces.

01

Reduce Air Temperature

Evaporation absorbs heat from incoming air, helping reduce the temperature of the air discharged by the cooler when conditions are appropriate.

02

Keep Air Moving

High-volume airflow can help address hot, stagnant-feeling areas and move cooled air toward active work zones.

03

Target the Workspace

Portable models can be positioned closer to technicians, workstations and other areas where cooling is needed.

Fresh-Air Cooling

Keep fresh air moving through the space.

Evaporative cooling is designed to work with airflow—not against it.

Cool Boss draws warm air through water-saturated evaporative media. As the water evaporates, it absorbs heat from the incoming air before the fan moves that air into the workspace.

Unlike conventional refrigerated air conditioning, evaporative cooling generally works best when fresh outside air can enter the space and humidified air has a path to leave.

That makes the technology particularly relevant to suitable garages, warehouses, factories and other workspaces where doors or other openings are already part of the environment.

The Cooling Process

Water. Airflow. Evaporation.

Cool Boss uses a straightforward evaporative process to help lower the temperature of the air moving through the cooler.

01

Saturate the Media

Water circulates over the evaporative cooling media to create a wet surface for incoming air.

02

Draw In Warm Air

Warm air passes through the saturated media, where evaporation absorbs heat from the airstream.

03

Move Cooler Air

The fan moves the evaporatively cooled air into the targeted workspace.

Targeted Airflow

Bring the cooling closer to the people who need it.

Cooling Where It Counts

You don't always need to treat the whole building.

Large workspaces often have specific areas where heat is a bigger problem.

A loading area may be exposed to outside heat. A service bay may have large doors open throughout the day. Machinery may add heat around one section of a shop.

Portable evaporative cooling allows applicable Cool Boss models to be positioned around active areas and repositioned when the work moves.

Cooling Performance

Conditions make a difference.

01
Temperature Evaporative cooling is designed for warm and hot environments where heat can be removed through evaporation.
02
Relative Humidity Lower humidity generally allows greater evaporative cooling potential than highly humid conditions.
03
Ventilation Fresh-air exchange gives humidified air a path out of the workspace and supports effective evaporative cooling.
04
Placement Distance, airflow direction, obstructions and workspace layout affect where cooled air reaches.

Cooling equipment is one part of workplace heat management.

Employers should use appropriate workplace heat-safety practices for their environment. Evaporative cooling does not replace hydration, rest, acclimatization, training, monitoring or other heat-safety measures appropriate to the work being performed. Actual Cool Boss performance varies with temperature, humidity, ventilation, model, placement and other environmental conditions.

Take the Edge Off Extreme Heat

When the temperature climbs, productivity isn’t the only thing that can take a hit. Excessive workplace heat can contribute to fatigue, dehydration, heat exhaustion and other heat-related illnesses.

That’s where evaporative cooling can make a serious difference. In the right hot, dry conditions, a Cool Boss can reduce ambient temperatures by as much as 26°F, helping turn a brutally hot shop, warehouse or work area into a much more manageable environment.

Traditional air conditioning can accomplish the same basic goal, but cooling a massive industrial space with A/C can be expensive and impractical. A Cool Boss evaporative air cooler gives you a portable, energy-efficient way to bring cooling directly where your crew needs it. Roll it into position, fire it up and get serious airflow moving.

Actual cooling performance varies based on temperature, humidity and environmental conditions.

Keep Fresh Air Moving

Cooling the air is only part of the equation. Cool Boss also keeps a steady stream of fresh air moving through the workspace.

Unlike traditional air conditioning systems that typically recirculate indoor air, evaporative coolers work best with a continuous supply of fresh outside air. Warm air is drawn through water-saturated cooling media, cooled through evaporation and pushed into the workspace while doors, windows or other openings allow warm air to escape.

For garages, warehouses, factories and other large or partially open workspaces, that constant air exchange can help prevent the environment from feeling hot, stagnant and stuffy. You get cooler air, strong circulation and a workspace that simply feels better when the temperature starts climbing.

It’s cooling built for the kinds of spaces where shutting every door and blasting the A/C isn’t always an option.
