Industrial Evaporative Cooling

Big Spaces. Serious Airflow.

Bring portable evaporative cooling closer to the people, equipment and work zones that need it in warehouses, shops and industrial facilities.

Cooling the Workspace

Industrial heat is a different kind of challenge.

Warehouses, machine shops and production areas aren't always easy spaces to cool.

Large doors may open throughout the day. Heat-producing equipment may operate for hours at a time. Workstations can be spread across a large footprint, and the areas needing airflow may change from one job to the next.

Cool Boss portable evaporative air coolers offer another approach—bring high-volume airflow and evaporative cooling closer to active work areas instead of relying only on whole-building cooling.

The Industrial Environment

Why large facilities can be difficult to cool.

Industrial environments combine several conditions that can make conventional temperature control challenging.

01

Large Footprints

Warehouses and production facilities can contain a lot of cubic space that doesn't always need to be cooled equally.

02

Open Doors

Shipping doors, service bays and other openings can make maintaining a tightly controlled indoor environment difficult.

03

Heat Sources

Machinery, tools, vehicles and processes can add heat directly to the areas where people are working.

04

Changing Work Zones

Personnel and active work areas may move, making flexible cooling useful throughout the day.

A Different Approach

Cool the air. Move a lot of it.

Evaporative cooling is built around a simple combination—water, airflow and evaporation.

Cool Boss draws warm air through water-saturated evaporative media. As water evaporates, it absorbs heat from the incoming air.

The fan then moves that evaporatively cooled air into the workspace. Water that does not evaporate is collected and recirculated through the system.

Because evaporative cooling works with fresh airflow rather than requiring a tightly sealed room, it can be particularly useful in suitable industrial environments with open doors or ventilation.

How It Works

A straightforward cooling process.

Instead of simply circulating the same warm air, Cool Boss uses evaporative media and airflow to help reduce the temperature of the air leaving the cooler.

01

Saturate the Media

Water is circulated over the evaporative media to prepare the cooling surface.

02

Draw In Warm Air

The fan pulls warm air through the water-saturated media, where evaporation absorbs heat.

03

Move Cooler Air

High-volume airflow carries the evaporatively cooled air toward the targeted work area.

Industrial Applications

Put the airflow where the work is.

Portable evaporative cooling can be useful across a range of large, open or ventilated industrial environments when temperature and humidity conditions are appropriate.

✓ Warehouses
✓ Machine Shops
✓ Manufacturing Areas
✓ Shipping & Receiving
✓ Assembly Areas
✓ Maintenance Facilities
✓ Equipment Bays
✓ Open Work Areas
Targeted Cooling

Focus on the areas that actually need airflow.

In a large industrial building, cooling every square foot the same way may not always be the goal. Portable equipment lets you take a more targeted approach.

1

Position Near the Work

Place the cooler where its airflow can reach active personnel or work zones without obstructing normal operations.

2

Give Air Somewhere to Go

Evaporative cooling works best with adequate ventilation so fresh air can enter and humidified air can exit.

3

Reposition as Needed

Portable models can be moved as active work areas, projects or facility needs change.

Performance Factors

The environment matters.

01
Temperature Evaporative cooling is intended for warm and hot conditions where there is heat available for the evaporation process.
02
Relative Humidity Lower humidity generally provides greater evaporative cooling potential than high-humidity conditions.
03
Ventilation Fresh-air exchange helps prevent moisture from accumulating in the workspace.
04
Placement Distance, orientation, obstructions and workspace layout all influence where the airflow ultimately goes.

Industrial cooling performance isn't one fixed number.

Actual temperature reduction and coverage depend on the Cool Boss model, ambient temperature, relative humidity, ventilation, placement and workspace layout. Review individual model specifications when sizing equipment for a particular facility.

INDUSTRIAL

Cool Boss, Your Industrial Swamp Cooler

Ever worked in a warehouse that was stifling hot and so dry?

Machine shops can get really, really hot, and these industrial-type facilities all-too-often risk overheating their employees. Air conditioning is too expensive for large plants, unless you’re absurdly wealthy and/or need excuses to spend money.

An industrial swamp cooler throws a bit of a wrench in the fan. Rather than move the same disgustingly hot air in endless circles, Cool Boss pulls in air from outside and traps it in an evaporative media. Helpless to the force of gravity, water drips through the media and cools incoming hot air. Last, the fan blows chilled air everywhere you need it. This air is humid because it contains evaporated water, but the air is never wet to the touch.

In case you were wondering about the lucky few drops of water that aren’t evaporated the first time around, a simple pump system returns water to the top of the swamp cooler media, and the entire process begins again.

We highly recommend that all shops looking to save money on their electric bills look into Cool Boss. In many cases, our swamp cooler is exactly what you want. So, get one, save money, keep safe, and have a better working summer.

Cool Boss, Your Industrial Swamp Cooler

Ever looked inside an industrial facility and thought, “They could really use a swamp cooler?” Probably not, because they would be really specific. Hmm. Ever worked in a warehouse that was stifling hot and so dry that you were hesitant to sneeze for fear your sinuses would rip apart? Hopefully not, because that’s gross.

However, we do have a piece of news that isn’t really news: machine shops can get really, really hot, and these industrial-type facilities all-too-often risk overheating their employees. Air conditioning is too expensive for large plants, unless you’re absurdly wealthy and/or need excuses to spend money. (In which case, let’s be friends?) Ceiling fans are okay sometimes, but they’re kind of useless if it’s already really hot. Moving hot air in a circle sometimes feels as useless as... moving hot air in a circle.

An industrial swamp cooler throws a bit of a wrench in the fan. (Bad analogy, but there’s worse things that could hit the fan.) Rather than move the same disgustingly hot air in endless circles, Cool Boss pulls in air from outside and traps it in an evaporative media. Helpless to the force of gravity, water drips through the media and cools incoming hot air. Last, the 30” fan blows chilled air everywhere you need it. This air is humid because it contains evaporated water, but the air is never wet to the touch.

In case you were wondering about the lucky few drops of water that aren’t obliterated by evaporation the first time around, a proprietary anti-gravity gizmo (aka a simple pump system) returns water to the top of the swamp cooler media, and the entire process begins again.

We highly recommend that all shops looking to save money on their electric bills look into Cool Boss. In many cases, our swamp cooler is exactly what you want. So get one, save money, keep safe and have a better working summer.
