Evaporative Air Coolers FAQS
A commercial evaporative air cooler uses water, evaporative media and moving air to provide cooling airflow. Warm incoming air passes through water-saturated media before a fan directs the resulting airflow into the surrounding area.
They can be used in warehouses, workshops, manufacturing facilities, service areas, garages and other open or well-ventilated commercial spaces. Portable units can also be positioned near specific occupied or active work zones.
Traditional refrigerated air conditioning typically uses refrigerant and a compressor to condition and recirculate indoor air. Direct evaporative cooling uses water evaporation and airflow, introduces fresh air and adds moisture to the air as it operates.
Direct evaporative cooling works best with a source of fresh air and a path for warmer, moisture-laden air to leave the space. Adequate ventilation is especially important indoors because evaporative coolers add moisture while operating.
Yes. Evaporative cooling generally has greater cooling potential when the incoming air is hot and dry. As relative humidity increases, the air can accept less additional moisture, which reduces the amount of evaporative cooling available.
A warehouse can be a good application when there is adequate fresh-air exchange and a suitable exhaust path. Rather than trying to refrigerate an entire building, portable evaporative coolers can also be positioned to direct airflow toward loading areas, workstations and other occupied zones.
There is not one coverage number that applies to every model or installation. Airflow, facility layout, ceiling height, ventilation, temperature, relative humidity, placement and the individual cooler all affect performance. Compare the specifications for each Cool Boss model with the conditions of your application.
Temperature reduction varies with operating conditions. Incoming air temperature and relative humidity have a significant effect, along with ventilation, airflow, placement, water conditions and the configuration of the individual cooler. A single temperature-drop figure should not be expected in every application.
Cool Boss offers portable evaporative cooler models that can be repositioned as cooling needs change. Dimensions, weight, caster configuration, water capacity and other mobility-related features vary by model, so check the individual product specifications before selecting a unit.
Consider the size and layout of the space, occupied work areas, desired airflow, ventilation, expected temperature and humidity, available electrical service, water access and how often the cooler may need to be moved. Then compare those requirements with the specifications of the available Cool Boss models.
DOLLAR-A-DAY COOL
Central air wasn't built for a place with the bay doors open all day. Cool Boss runs on tap water and a fraction of the juice a real AC unit eats, dropping temps up to 26°F for about a buck a day. That's less than your coffee habit, and it actually does something for your shop.
BUILT TOUGH
This isn't a big-box store of fan in a costume. Heavy-duty housing, oversized blades, and a cooling pad that can take a beating from dust, grease, and everday garage chaos. Roll it where you need it, point it where it counts, and get back to the job. It'll keep up.
GOES WHERE YOU GO
Casters, not concrete. Wheel it to the bay that's cooking today, then roll it over to the one that's cooking tomorrow. No ductwork, no contractor, no waiting on a permit just to feel a breeze. Point it, plug it in, get back under the hood. Your shop layout changes by the season.
